Planned Engineering Works
The plan today was to go visit a couple of photo galleries, which I didn't get around to doing last weekend as I was interrupted by a whale. The first exhibition on the cards was Tim Simmons at the Blue Gallery in Clerkenwell. The photos looked really interesting on the web. After working out how to get there I arrived at Kings Cross to catch the tube to Farringdon tube only to find that there were no trains running due to "planned engineering works". Change of plans. Bus then a 15 minute walk, which wouldn't have been too bad if the gallery hadn't been shut due to "unforseen circumstances" when I got there. Aaaargh. Unfortunately the exhibition shuts this week so probably won't get there after all. Grrrr. Luckily the other gallery I wanted to checkout was nearby. Unluckily that was closed too ....
After being twice defeated i decided to give up on all plans and maps and just go for a wander. Ended up walking all the way back to Waterloo Station via the Barbican Estate, where the photo is from, the Museum of London, St Pauls, down through The City, west along the Strand and then south over Waterloo Bridge. Ended up being quite the walk!
Thames Whale Rescue
More photos on flickr here.
The whale that swam up the Thames managed to beach itself near Battersea Bridge, about 10 minutes walk from where I live. Headed down to check it out with a few thousand other Londoners. Poor thing.
Under Slate Grey Victorian Sky
It has been nearly a week and to be honest I think I chose a good time to take a break from the photo a day thing. Haven't really had the photo urge. I blame it on the weather - the sun has been very coy until yesterday. A minor case of SAD perhaps ...
Yesterday I bought tickets for Morrissey at the Palladium in May. Sweet. Not the best tickets, upper balcony, even though I bought them through TicketMaster as soon as they went on sale. I think TicketMaster only had crappy seats. There was another ticket outlet selling them too which must have had the good 'uns. Still, lucky to get any - the three London shows sold out in 40 minutes. I think most of the tickets ended up here. There were two front row tickets that went for 600 quid - that is about 1500 Aus dollars. Not a bad profit considering they were 32 quid each.

MoreLondon
Many of my weekday photos have been coming from a bank side redevelopment, known as MoreLondon, which lies between Tower Bridge and, well, the Marks and Spencer where I have been buying lunch lately. The strange sloping sliced egg shaped building I posted a couple of days ago is London City Hall, which is a part of this redevelopment. (That said, it isn't as cool as Toronto City Hall). Anyway, guesswhat, today there is even more. Sorry about the rather dull lighting, it has been pretty overcast lately ...
Rainy Days
Very Lazy Saturday
Rolled out of bed around 10:30 and stuffed around until about 3:00pm when I decided I had to get out of the house for some fresh (london?) air. Walked up to Battersea Park and then along the Thames. It is so great living a 10 minute walk from the Thames, especially the stretch between Albert and Chelsea Bridges. Took some photos. I really need to get a tripod. And one of these. The least my readers can do is sponsor me. The least ... Although those who leave comments will be exempt. We like those readers ...

First Day Back
First day back at work today. Not too bad, but I have my 3 month review tomorrow. Feels like I achieved nothing at work last month. Aaaargh. Should be interesting. Hope you're all surviving your first week back at work. It was so cold over here today. Strange. At home January has such a holiday feel, I think it is the warmth !
